I had a look around at a few different bikes, and decided to get a scooter. You can get a good one for a reasonable price, and they are easy to fix and sell, as the locals love them.
I eventually settle for a Yamaha Nouvo 2. Bought one from Backpacker Club, the guest house I am staying in. The bike is a rental, and they wanted US$380 for it. Simon from Saigon Minks offered to check it out for me.

Simon From Saigon Minks. If you want a motorcycle in Vietnam, he is the man to go to. Even if he cannot sell you one, he will check out any you are thinking on buying. You can reach him on +841205100441 Website or email vespatran1@yahoo.com
Note that although Simon is based in Saigon (Ho Chi Min City), he has contacts in Hanoi.
Simon tested the bike for me, then gave it to his mechanic. The conclusion was that the bike is worth $320, as the front shocks needs rebuilding, the brakes are shot, needs a service as in oil and spark plug change, and drive belt. I went back to the Backpacker Club, and we eventually settled on $350.
Took the bike back to Simon and gave it in to have all the problems fixed and serviced.

Soon i will be hitting the road, exploring Vietnam.
I have a Yamaha 125, I love it, it can do the speed limit and about $5 a week on gas.
I am a different breed. To much power, is just enough. 🙂
