Barbecue and ferrets.

Having fun in Phoenix. Had an awesome dinner with friends, and had the chance to play with their ferrets. The two rascals are so cute, I almost snuck them home in my jacket.

All to soon my time here will be over. Then it is four flights to my next destination.

Diving in Lake Pleasant, Phoenix

Mike twisted my arm into going diving in 55degree water. Promised me I would be warm wearing a dry suit.

So I look at the beautiful landscape surrounding us.

Then, I braved the cold water. I immediately got a headache as I entered the water, ice-cream headache. Luckily it passed within a few minutes. I felt some cold on my left leg, but not to bad. For my first drysuit dive, it went very well. However, by 30 minutes into the dive I started to shake from the cold. As we were already heading back, I just braved the cold, thinking that if this is how cold one gets in a drysuit, I ain’t doing this in a wetsuit. We saw a few Christmas trees and hoops that we could swim through. Mike managed to find little Johnny.

Then it was time to get out. I was a Popsicle when we got out. Only when I took the suit off, did we realize that the suit leaked and my undergarment was soaked. Luckily I rented a 7mm wetsuit just in case. So off we went for a second dive, me this time in a wetsuit. We saw a few fish and more Christmas trees. I managed a 50 min dive. But when I got out and went to the loo, I realized I turned into a woman. 🙁

All in all, an awesome experience. And I did learn that I really do not like diving in water below 80degrees. 🙂

Having fun in Phoenix

After spending a few days in New York, I am now on my second leg of my trip, Phoenix Arizona. Will be spending 2 weeks here. The change from New York to Phoenix is a culture shock to me. And it is so amazing to see the different ways how people do things in different places. I keep on wanting to hand my debit card to the cashier, causing panic in them. Apparently you are supposed to swipe your card yourself in the machine at the till, and they almost treat it like it is a turd when I hand it to them ha ha ha. We went to the Home Depot, and to my surprise, Mike paid with no cashier at the checkout. You just scan your goods yourself, then swipe your card and off you go.

I bought and life box for the iPhone David gave me after my Nokia got trashed, thank you David. However, the charge lead could no longer fit, so I had to get a new one. And what color could be more appropriate than pink.

Tonight I will treat the Bruno family to South African Mac and cheese (has bacon and egg and hot dogs in). With some home made coffee ice-cream. I had my old trusty leather jacket’s main zipper replaced, and are fixing the other zips. Funny, I asked to have the other zips replaced, and the shop is just reluctant in doing it. They loosen the zip, and replace the slider, then sow the zipper up again, which I think is more work than just replacing the whole zip.

We are planning a trip to the Grand Canyon. Will post some pictures when we get there.
