Farewell Cayman

So the day has finally arrived. It is with mixed feelings that I load my bags into the car. I have called Cayman home for 7 years. And although I leave behind a lot of memories, many more await me ahead.

For my final breakfast, I chose “The Waterfront” at Camanabay. I could not have chosen a better spot.20140109-113857.jpg
The place has a clean and fresh atmosphere , very friendly staff, and the food is awesome.

Being South African, I had to go with steak and eggs. 🙂

My compliments to the Chef. For all my South African buddies, this steak tastes like home, and is soft and succulent.

So now, I am sitting on the airport, Skyping friends and blogging away the
time. Next stop is NY, where I am going to play in the snow. I have been warned that exposed skin freezes in 10 minutes, so no mooning in the streets. 🙂

Drinks with friends

Thank you all for coming to my farewell party, both in person and in spirit.

It was awesome working with you all and knowing you, some for a number of years, others a few days.

Even Otis and Mojo showed up to say hi.

Although some people found the Caribbean night air chilling. Good thing you are not in NY at this moment.

The power of air

We think mostly little of the air pressure in our diving cylinders. Few know that the potential kinetic energy in an 80cu tank of 3000 psi is roughly the same as 3 1/2 hand grenades. However, how much power is in air when a hose on a compressor bursts? Enough to cause a stainless steel hose to be flailed around like a straw.

Below is a picture of the replacement stainless steel hose.

The hose broke at the fitting and spun around to the other side of the compressor, wrapping itself around another steel hose. After cutting through a high pressure PVC pipe.
